MY SIMPSON NOTES

This Simpson family has been traced to southern Washington County, around the Sims Chapel and Fairhope area, and in northern Mobile County, Al., around Citronelle, Al. Louis (Lewis) Simpson married Lavina Lambert in Washington County, Alabama, on 11/1/1838. In the 1840 Alabama Cenus, he is listed as Louis Sampson with his wife and a young male under 5 years old. In the 1850 Alabama Census, he is listed as Louis Simpson with his wife Lavina, John age 13, William age 8, and Ann age 4. This is where the problems begins to arise. In the same county, there is also listed a Louis C. Simpson with wife Lavina, John age 10, William age 7, and Ann age 5. In 1854, Lavina (Lambert) Simpson married Solomon S. Bidwell in Mobile County. Do not know what happen to Louis Simpson. In the 1860 Alabama Census, Lavina is listed with her husband S. S. Bidwell, W. Simpson, age 17, and S. A. Simpson, age 14. Have not found John or his father Louis Simpson. In the 1870 Alabama Census, a W. Simpson age 25, is living in the Nathan Lambert household. Nathan Lambert is Lavina's brother. Three househoulds before Nathan's household there is a Lucinda Frazier household. Listed in this household is a daughter Emily Frazier, age 18. It is strongly believe, no proof, that the W. Simpson in Nathan Lambert household and the Emily Frazier listed in Lucinda Frazier household are our g-g-grandparents. Sometime around 1871, William L. Simpson married Emaline Frazier. In the 1880 Alabama Census, William Simpson age 33, is listed with his wife Emily, age 25, Lizzie age 8, William age 2, and Sove age 2months. If you look at the census very carefully, Sove might be Loue. By 1895 the family should look like this. Their age is based upon the first time I could found them in a census. William L. Simpson age 52 Emily Simpson age 43 Elizabeth (Lizzie) Simpson age 23, no other information on her William L. Simpson age 17, married Liza Cole abt 1898 Louis S. Simpson age 15, married Lela Atkinson in Wayne County, MS in 1903 Henry J (Jack) Simpson age 13, married Vallie Johnston abt 1914 LouVena (Lavina) Simpson age 6, married Mark Sullivan abt 1913 Mary Francis Simpson age 4, married James Henry Patrick abt 1912 The biggest problem that is keeping me from 100% confirming this family is that I can not find the family at all in the 1900 Alabama Census, except for the son William L. Simpson. I do not know if the family had moved to a different location or different state, but I am still looking. By 1903, Louis S. Simpson is in Wayne County, Ms. and the rest is history for him. For the 1910 Census, I have only been able to locate the sons William L. Simpson, and Louis S. Simpson. Have not found the other siblings as of yet. By 1920, All of the children are married and living in the same general area where the family started, except for Louis who is in Wayne County, MS. .
